Fuyuji Boxhill

The design was inspired by the big contrast between the western and local culture exchange and integration happened in Xi’an during the early 20s century. We played with the various textures in finishes to appreciate the brutal beauty of Xi’an geography – like clay look tiles, stone – layers of terracotta also refer to the colour of nature in Xi’an. Simultaneously we introduced the typical modern western metal arch frame with textured glass to stand out from the grounded earthy materials, the contrast-enhanced the strong characteristics of both groups. Black metal further intensified the colour contrast.
